2010 Men's County Tournament

The Annual County Tournament is one of the longest standing golf tournaments in our area.  This much anticipated tournament is always full of tradition and excitement.  Once a year all levels of amateur golfers come out to the County Golf Course and attempt to mark their name in county history....from Jerry Snable (11 time champion) to recent high school graduates, to your once a week league golfer, everyone wants his shot at winning 'The County'!  We would like to thank all participants having our best turn out in recent years with 142 golfers!

This year was no exception!!  The following are the Champion Golfers of 2010:

____________Fact or Fiction?___________

Was the County Tournament always held at same location?

Fiction:  The Bay County Golf Course opened its doors in 1966.  The first County Tournament at this location was 1968 with Jerry Snable as champion  Before that the event was held at the old Euclid course.

Just a little bit of history!

(Left)  Addison Pafford chips onto the 13th green during Saturday's first round.  He hit his chip to 5 feet and made a nice putt for par.  Solid up and down.

(Right)  Larry Boon tees off on the first hole of Championship Flight.  Larry finished in 16th place with scores of 76 and 78.

Did you know that Scott Miller's 66 in the opening round of the 2007 County Tournament was the lowest round ever posted in the event.

(Left)  Scott who is known for his 300 yard plus drives played a solid tournament this year posted rounds of 74 - 74 to finish in a tie for 4th place.

(Right)  Jason Holyszko a past champion tests the flexibility of his shaft on his opening drive in this year's tournament.  Jason finished in 3rd place with a two over 146.

(Right)  Dave Dietlein better known as "CARP"  lets the right elbow fly as he sets his club for his patented hook starting down the right side of the fairway.

This year's tournament brought in 149 golfers to top the largest field in quite a few years.  Thanks everyone for your support.

(Left)  Cameron Volders takes his relief after flying the green on #6.  He is eyeing up his chip....must have been a good one!

Don't forget...The Bay County Tournament is always held the first full weekend in August.  Mark your calendars for 2011...

(Left)  Nick Spencer who is known for his weak fades off the tee....let me correct myself for his unruly power off the tee lets one go on his opening tee shot.  (Nick recently drove the #1 green some 380 yards away.  With a little help from the cart path, but come on 380 yards.  It's too bad he missed his eagle putt.  Next time Nick!)

(Right)  Dave Herber '09 fourth flight champion chips onto the 6th green in his opening round.
