Michigan Veterans Trust Fund
Bay County has a Veterans' Trust Fund is financed by the Michigan Veterans' Trust Fund and supplies emergency assistance to veterans in need. It is governed by a four-member board which is elected by the members of the various veterans organizations throughout Bay County. Recipients of this emergency assistance must meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the state law.
Eligibility
- Honorable Discharge
- 180 days during a period of war
- 180 days of active duty with award of Armed - Forces/Navy Expeditionary Medal
- Less than 180 days of wartime service due to service-incurred disability
- Dependents can apply if veteran is eligible under certain circumstances
How to Apply
- Must apply in the county where you reside
- Call and make an appointment and ensure you bring all required documents and information to complete the application

- Military discharge document (DD-214 or other)
- Proof of Residence
- Documents for Dependents
- Proof of Income and Expenses
- Other documents depending on types of assistance
