Views from the Tourney.....
11 time - County Champion Jerry Snable drains a putt on number six during his first round. Jerry has been a crowd favorite ever since he ran off 7 consecutive titles from 1992-98. Jerry's other titles were: 1968, 71, 82, & 90. Jerry is one victory shy of tying the all time mark of John Tews with 12 titles. Every time Jerry tees it up on number 1 he is guaranteed a large crowd.
Congratulations on your constant success...
We'll be waiting for 2008!
The crowd waits patiently as the final scores are being posted.
Did you know this year's tournament was marked the 83rd Bay County Championship?
____________Fact or Fiction?___________
Was the County Tournament always held at same location?
Fiction: The Bay County Golf Course opened its doors in 1966. The first County Tournament at this location was 1968 with Jerry Snable as champion Before that the event was held at the old Euclid course.
Just a little bit of history!
In this photo Scott Miller was awarded his tie for 4th place gift ceritficate.
Quick Fact:
Scott shot an all time tournament record 66 in his opening round.
If you have never seen Scott drive the golf ball, you should set up a round with him. On the first hole of the event, a 381 yard par 4, Scott drove the ball within 30 yards of the green. (Not to mention, the hole was slightly into the wind!) On number 5, a 348 yard dogleg right Scott hits a tee shot over the trees within 5 feet of the pin. Yes he drove the green and knocked down his eagle putt!! Sounds like he might get a few calls to play in some scrambles....Great Job Scott!!
Receiving his 2nd place gift certificate, 3 time Champion Mike Wenglikowski (2000, 2003, 2005) was convinced he would be the 2007 champion, because of hi s resume. And he nearly was....
Mike made it interesting by taking his friend and ex college teammate Justin Holyszko to sudden death, but finished just short.
Don't be to disappointed, because he is always considered a threat when he tees it up!!!
Congrats!!
2001 Champion Bryan Shark watches Justin Holyszko just miss a putt during the first round.
Bryan a 'deadly putter' in his own rite is another constant threat when he tees it up!!
The following list of names is sure to bring back memories and attribute to the tremendous golfing experience and quality gentlemen that we have had the honor to play in our event. Congratulations to all players on this list, but also to every player that has ever participated over the years. Thank You for the memories.....and the ones to follow.
