The Personnel and Employee Relations activity is a department of the County Executive. Functions of the department include the coordination of hiring of employees, labor negotiations, contract administration, the maintenance of personnel files, and the coordination of employee training. The director serves as the communications link between employees and the County Executive, and is responsible for staying in compliance with approximately 15 employment-related laws and their accompanying regulations.
Among the goals of the department are:
- Providing fair and equal employment opportunities to current and future employees
- Maintaining open lines of communication with Bay County departments.
- Being efficient and responsive relative to the employment-related needs of personnel within the departments
- Providing an atmosphere that is conductive to the empowerment and professional developments of employees.
