We are now hiring for Summer 2024!
Positions:
Field Technician (29): Major duties include field sampling of larval habitats, performing larval control and adult mosquito control activities, accurate reporting of daily activities, and answering inquiries from the public. Work shift for larval control technicians will run from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Work shift for the adult control technicians (fogging for adult mosquitoes) will be from 7:45 p.m. - 1:45 a.m. Shifts typically run Monday through Friday, but occasionally working Saturday is necessary to help with scrap tire collections or to continue mosquito control efforts when mosquito populations are elevated.
Biology Lab Technician (2): Major duties include working independently monitoring and identifying mosquito populations, assisting with mosquito-borne disease surveillance, technical reporting, and answering inquiries from the public. Biology technicians' normal work shift is the day shift 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Office Data Entry Clerk (1): Major duties include data entry, answering phones, and filing. The normal work shift is 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
Applicant must possess minimum High School diploma or GED and have a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record. Applicant must be 18 years of age and be able to pass a physical, drug test, and a background check. Applicant must attend a mandatory training session and pass the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's "Core" and "7F/Mosquito Control" exams.
Period of Employment:
The summer season spans from mid-May through September.
Rate of Pay:
During the summer season, there are two shifts. Rate of pay is shown below:
Day Shift 1st Year - $14.25/hour; 2nd Year - $14.75/hour
Night Shift 1st Year - $14.75/hour; 2nd Year - $15.25/hour
